Trendinfo Summer 19

Busy times: 2017, GUNOLD presented the revolutionary reflective embroidery thread “CRY and proudly celebrated its 90’s anniversary. Early 2018, the German manufacturer of high quality decorative threads and materials continues to present contemporary product innovations: During the Munich Fabric Start and Premiere Vision Paris shows, the company will launch its latest thread creation:

“POLY FLASH”, a hybrid among the specialty threads. This innovative thread brings a new look to the embroidery and embellishment industry: POLY FLASH combines the properties and look of polyester, viscose and metal in a single thread: it is as strong and resistant as polyester (Gunold’s POLY), but has the silky soft shine of viscose (Gunold’s SULKY) and the shimmering sheen of metallic thread (Gunold’s METY). The look of POLY FLASH is metallically shiny, looks like hammered metal, rather frosted than high-gloss, used, broken in a vintage style.

The timing is perfect, helping the industry to find the right threads to bring embroidery and decorative stitching to a new creative level. There is still a strong trend to decorate with embroidery and eye-catching seams and the brands discover new looks of embroidery and effect threads to highlight their garments.

Not only are Gunold’s threads used for embroidery and effect seams, also industrial multineedle quilting is a very attractive option. Gunold’s COTTY 12, a thick effect thread from 100 % Cotton, for example, is perfect for an effectful and contemporary surface design on light summer down jacket.

Another strong trend is to use all kinds of iridescent materials.  A very fresh and summery story, perfect for Gunold’s iridescent METY colours. This metallic effect thread is available in shimmery whitish shades as well as in opalescent pastels with a beautiful mother of pearl effect. Picture Iridescent Mety Shades
